An apple a day
As fall is in the air, we took the kiddos to Eckerts today for some good ol apple pickin fun. Love that place! Its a bit of a drive but worth it because in addition to picking your own apples, they also have a petting zoo, carnival rides, pony rides, camel rides, a mini train you can ride, bounce houses, and of course (perhaps my fave) junk food! Check it out if you haven't ever been.
Stay tuned for a post detailing what we make with our loot...

Hive ho, hive ho, off to the doc we go
Last week they sent home a note that there was a confirmed case of Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease in Alex's classroom at school. This is a pretty common thing in daycares and its highly contaigious, kinda like pink eye. They told us what symptoms to watch for (diarrhea, fever, blisters on hands, feet, and mouth) and sure enough a couple days after that Alex was feeling like poo and was running a lil fever. We gave him Tylenol that night and he was fine the next morn so we sent him back to school. That was on Wed. Turns out he was the ONLY kid in his class that day...everyone else was sick. :( Anyway, he was super happy that day and they said he loved all the one on one attention. :) That evening when I was giving him a bath I noticed a few spots on his arms and legs but they weren't blisters, more like bug bites. Sent him to school Thurs and got a call around 10:30 that we needed to come pick him up bc he was getting spots all over at that point. Of course we all assumed it was HFM! Granny actually went and got Alex from school for us (Granny to the rescue!) then Lenny took him to the doc a few hrs later. Turns out it wasn't HFM after all...just a rash/hives caused by a virus. What a relief! We are doing Benedryl once a day til hives are gone and hydrocortizone on skin as needed. Poor baby looks horrible (these pics don't do it justice), but he is acting fine so that makes it a lot easier. Guess we'll just have a polka-dotted lil boy on our hands for a few days! Good times!
