6 mo checkup

Took the boys to the doc last week for Nick's 6mo and Alex's 2yr appointments. Both are doing great, other than the fact that each of them had an ear infection in their right ear. I felt horrible cuz I had no idea. :( They had a lil bit of a cough but we didn't think anything of it...just figured it was a normal kid thing. Kids get coughs and snotty noses constantly! Part of being a kid. They didn't seem to be extra crabby or anything so they must not have been feeling TOO bad from the ear infections. We got some Amoxicillan for each and they think the medicine is a treat that they get 2x/day. We're gonna keep rollin with that. ;)

Nick is sitting unassisted now, grasping and transferring objects between his hands, babbling and saying "dadadadadada" a lot (should be mamama). He is also putting weight on his legs/feet when you stand him up. These are all developmental milestones that they look for right around this age. He is now 27" long and weighs 19lb, 6.5oz. (Alex weighed 20lbs at FOUR MONTHS!!! Hahahahahah) That puts Nick in the 68% for height and 83% for weight. Not quite as stocky as his big bro, but that's alright. I'll take a linebacker and a running back! He was all smiles with Dr Agolia; it was really cute. Nick got 2 shots and an oral vaccine and cried a little when they did the shots, but settled down fairly quickly when I picked him up. Overall, he's looking good! He's such a happy little guy! A nice change from when he was smaller and fussed a lot.

Alex wasn't quite as happy to get checked out as Nick was...as soon as Agolia came over to him, he started bawling. Lol. Not sure why, but he doesn't seem to like the doc much. That's odd to me, cuz the doc doesn't do anything to hurt him ever-it's the nurse that does all the shots and the rough stuff! Strange. Agolia does seem to have a kind of loud, boisterous voice though. Mabes it just scares Akix. Who knows? Anyway, he is looking good and is right on track developmentally too (if not a little ahead in several areas). Doc asked how many words Alex knows now and I was like "oh I have no clue. He pretty much talks in complete sentences now." Then he asked if he knew how to climb the stairs and if he was starting to throw or kick a ball. I just laughed at this, cuz as we all know, we have a little Athletic Andy on our hands here. His dude's been running, throwing, and kicking balls since he could walk practically! As far as his stats go, Alex is now 2'11.5" and weighs 37lbs. That puts him in the 83% for height and 99% for weight. Not surprising. No shots for this guy until his 5yr checkup!

We are very fortunate to have such healthy children. This is such a fun age for both of them and I wish we could pause time for a bit and just enjoy this for a while longer. It goes by way too fast! Love these kiddos, and the hubbs isn't too bad himself. ;) I'm a pretty lucky girl.
