Strikes n Spares

Today we went to the bowling alley with Dan, Nikki, and Aidan. I would have never thought that Bella was old enough to try bowling had it not been for Nikki telling me they took Aidan last week and he loved it. Turns out it was a big hit for Bellz too! I can't tell you how many times she asked, "Is it my turn again?" She had a lot of fun, and there was only one time the that she didn't give it enough "oomph" and the ball got stuck in the middle of the lane.

After bowling, we all went over to Nikki and Dan's house for dinner, and I think Aidan was excited to have company. As soon as we walked in, he ran up and said, "Do you want to see my air hockey table? Do you want to see my trains? Do you want to see all my toys?" haha Cute!

Here are a couple quick pics I got at the bowling alley:

Going, going, gone!

...Lenny's hair that is. He has been talking about shaving his head ever since we went down to FL in September but never had the courage to actually go through with it. Until now. Surprisingly, he looks decent with it shaved. Not sure how long he'll keep the look; right now he's excited thinking about all the money he will save by not having to get his hair cut every 2 weeks! ha

Whatcha think of his new look?

Dress Shoppin, Round 1

Whoa, I forgot how fun it was to shop for fancy dresses! My mom, Janine, and I had a great time Saturday morning shopping for a wedding dress for me, a bridesmaid dress for Janine, and a MOB (mother of the bride) dress for Soney.  My mom picked some 1902-looking wedding dress with cap sleeves and thought it would look good on me, so I tried it out to humor her. YIKES. I seriously felt like Laura Ingalls in that thing. It probably didn't help that I had big brown boots on under the dress. I felt like I would fit right in in riding in the back of Pa's wagon on the way to Mankato at first light.  ANYWAY, after trying that monstrosity on, Janine and I thought it was only fair to pick out a dress of our choice and make Soney try it on.  To get her back we made her put on some skimpy red bridesmaid dress, and of course she came prancing out of the fitting room like it was nothin. She had the ladies at the store rolling on the floor laughing! Good times. :)

The day wasn't a waste by any means, I did find 3 dresses I liked, one of which made me feel super skinny! YESSSS! Right now that is my number 1 choice, although I want to look around some more before I commit to buying it, because it's not at all the style I was looking for originally. I think that happens a lot though - some of those dresses look totally different on the hanger, but when you actually put them on, they look beautiful.  I'll keep ya posted on my progress.

SOMEbody got their nails done...guess who?

Time to diet...or something

Saturday I went down to the bridal show at America's Center with my mom, Linda, and Janine. My favorite part of the show was of course the food and wedding cake samples. :) I swear we ate enough food to feed an entire army of brides! I was seriously stuffed and didn't want another bite of food after that. And then of course we passed a chocolate fountain on the way out the door so I just HAD to try a sample. I mean, c'mon, who can pass up a chocolate fountain??? Not I said the fly.

After seeing all the wedding gowns on display, I realized I better start thinking about a dress because September will be here before we know it! SO....I made an appointment to go dress shopping Saturday. Yay! Hopefully after trying on some dresses, it will motivate me to get my butt in gear and start working out again! Wish me luck with that one. If the working out thing doesn't go well, I suppose I could always use the excuse that Lenny loves me just the way I am, right? ;)

Public Service Announcement

Today's PSA brought to you by yours truly...when using an electric mixer, be sure you turn the mixer OFF before trying to scrape the sides of the bowl.

I was making a cake last night and was using a regular hand mixer to mix the batter. I took a rubber scraper and was scraping the sides of the bowl when all of the sudden the scraper got caught up and yanked my hand right into the beaters. It happened so fast that I didn't even realize what was going on for a split second. It hurt so bad! I let out a yelp and called for Lenny, but he had just walked out the door to go to the grocery store. I turned off the mixer which had obviously stopped now that my hand was all mangled up inside of it, then I unplugged it. I tried to push the eject button to eject the beaters, but they would not budge, so I just sat there staring at it my jacked up hand for like 10 seconds trying to figure out what to do.  I'm not even sure how I got my hand out, but somehow I did.  My pinkie and my thumb were dented in and kind of purple, but I wasn't bleeding and nothing seemed to be broken, as I could open and close my hand (which I kept doing repeatedly just to make sure it was working okay). Today there is barely a mark on my finger, although it is a little bit sore. Next time I make a cake, I'm going to be dang sure I turn the mixer off before I scrape that bowl. IDIOT!!!

Back to the grind

Well here it is, Monday morning and everyone is back to work after the holidays. Gross.
